UP 445-447 were built as EMD SD24 demonstrators 7200-7202, for service on SP; painted in SP's new, at that time, gray and red nose scheme, equipped with low noses and red warning lights mounted on low noses; sold to UP in August 1961; UP 446 was set-up by UP at Omaha on 3 August 1961. (Utah Rails)
